What's On! Cyprus app for iPhone and iPad

What’s On! Cyprus, was originally a national monthly magazine, launched in 1999, it became the best guide to Cyprus, and sadly was put into storage in 2006. Well; the magazine is back! … But now it’s a free App. We call it The Nitty Gritty Guide to Cyprus. It’s everything you’ll need to know and a little bit more.

The basic principle of the App is that all visitors who arrive in Cyprus, and in fact our ex-patriot residents and locals and nationals, will have the opportunity to download a free guide to Cyprus. The guide will take on a similar layout to the original publication, starting with an introduction to Cyprus from the editor, called ‘Ed’s Note’, which is updated monthly and topical …

From there a button will ask you … ‘Let’s go Find Things’ … This will take you to a selection of each of 8 major Cities in Cyprus … Eight buttons, when touched will take you to a selection of major categories .. Accommodation, Bars and Pubs, Business to Business, Clubbing, Eating Out, Events, Hair and Beauty, Leisure & Pleasure, and Shopping … Some of these have sub categories and some take you direct to that category …
You simply choose which category you are interested in, touch the screen and go directly to either a list of for example; Bars & Pubs, or Accommodation, Leisure & Pleasure, or Shopping, which will offer a further selection of choices, for example in leisure & Pleasure, Adventure Sports, Car Hire, Kids & Grown Ups, etc., and then onto our selection of recommendations…

The text/content is written with a relaxed spoken manor as if the editor is talking to you … and we believe we have our finger on the pulse of Cyprus, looking always for topical, interesting, and alternative subjects, i.e. things coming to Cyprus in the near or distant future. An Events button will take you to a concise list of events and link you to The Cyprus Tourist Organisations monthly list of events …

We have also included a section called ‘More’ .. this will offer a selection of articles and ‘must know’, ‘need to know’ and ‘hope you don’t need’ but might be required subjects, like emergency telephone numbers, late night chemists etc. we also interview local well known and sometimes behind the scene people …

A ‘quick Find’ button will take you to an A-Z guide of all content within the App, which is alphabetically listed and offers a quicker alternative to find things or a specific venue, business you are looking for … There is also a help page, which will tell the reader how to update and refresh the App … How to contact us etc.

Finally, once you have found who or what you are looking for, quick links will allow the reader to see a gallery of photographs of that venue, or to telephone that person or company, or email, go to their facebook page, or other social media and web sites … and offers the ability to find that venue by linking to Maps, which offers either the choice to walk or drive to that place, step by step.

The information, articles and knowledge within the guide is supported from a data base of over 20 years experience and information gathered by our editor since his arrival in Cyprus in 1991 …
